New plot for the Ennahdha Party to target Tunisia and attempts to release Ghannouchi

The Muslim Brotherhood movement and its supporters in Tunisia adopted a strategy to release its terrorist leader, Rached Ghannouchi, who is currently imprisoned on several terrorism charges. The movement recruited all the money, media, financed pages, protest rallies and other means to pressure the judiciary and local and international public opinion.

The Lies of the Ennahdha of the Muslim Brotherhood

Following his arrest, Ennahdha announced in a misleading statement that “a security force raided the house of its leader Rached Ghannouchi and took him to an unknown destination without respect for the simplest legal procedures.” A security official from the Ministry of the Interior revealed to the Tunis Afrique News Agency (WAT) that a security force arrested Rached following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Public Prosecution Service in the judicial branch for combating terrorism.

Ennahdha has argued that Ghannouchi’s arrest is part of the government’s targeting of political opponents, a strategy that purports to be politically motivated, and the reason for the suspension is inflammatory statements about violence and terrorism.

Terrorism cases

Tunisian political analyst Nizar Djalidi said that the arrest of Ghannouchi took place according to legal procedures and based on accusations against Ghannouchi related to terrorism cases, and confirmed that the place of arrest is known, and not, as some claim, unknown.

He added that the charges against Ghannouchi relate to foreign funding, youth travel and other issues related to the national security of the country. After the investigations of the Public Prosecutor’s Office are completed, the whole case will be referred to criminal prosecution and the judiciary will assume its duties.

He pointed out that Ennahdha’s claims that Ghannouchi is being pursued for political ideas are nothing but floating his serious issues and casting him in the garb of other political opponents currently imprisoned in what is known as a case of “conspiring against state security.

Ennahdha terrorist schemes

In Tunisia, Ennahdha organized all means of pressuring the judiciary and tried to influence public opinion, many of which had cheered Ghannouchi’s arrest. Many even celebrated his arrest on the street and in cafes, according to videos posted on social media.

Attack on the Judiciary

The movement has attacked the judiciary, arguing that it is in the hands of the executive branch and is now raising the slogan of judicial independence. A large segment of Tunisians accuse the judiciary of not creating this slogan while in power, but rather of being the first to violate it.

The movement has attempted to organize some protests in some European capitals without much resonance, splitting up some British MPs who organized a meeting with Ghannouchi’s daughter Soumaya Ghannouchi, the wife of his son-in-law Rafik Abdessalam, a leader in the movement and former foreign minister in the Ennahdha government, who is facing several charges of corruption.
