Judge Thwarts Trump Bid to Block Lawsuit Against Him

A US judge on Friday blocked former US President Donald Trump’s attempt to block a lawsuit against him.

Judge Arthur Ingoron, of the State Supreme Court in Manhattan, rejected the defense’s contention that Prosecutor Letitia James waited too long to file a lawsuit.

He also rejected claims that she had not been able to substantiate the fraud allegations and should have provided accounts for the $250 million damages she was seeking.

“The New York prosecutor needs to file a lawsuit against Trump and three of his sons and the Trump organization, charging them with fraudulent REAL-ESTATE assessments and former President Trump’s net worth,” Ingoron said.

The prosecutor charged them in September with “amplifying Trump’s assets with billions of dollars, through a decade of lies to banks and insurance companies,” in what she called an “astonishing fraud.”

In her statement, James said her investigation concluded that Trump “participated in years of massive financial fraud to enrich himself and deceive the regime,” and that he must defend himself before the courts.
