Organ trade… A new suspicious relationship connecting the Houthis with the Muslim Brotherhood… Details
The relationships between the Houthi militias and the Muslim Brotherhood organization in Yemen have undergone a noticeable evolution in political, economic, and military sectors. Despite the declared positions and occasional attacks by the group’s leaders on the Iran-backed movement, Brotherhood figures have written numerous articles attempting to create a broad groundwork for the operations carried out by the Houthi militias. Interestingly, these articles have been republished and celebrated by Houthi media.
According to Aden Times, the dubious relations between the Houthi militias and the Muslim Brotherhood extend over long periods, with many common interests bringing them together. This prompts them to work towards prolonging the duration of the war.
The shared interests between the two groups range from military alliances and covert collaborations to the surrendering of territories based on suspicious agendas. This is in addition to economic relationships that involve distributing gains and dividing looted money and resources, especially in southern regions. These relationships also extend to political connections and governance under a unified leadership.
The shared relationships and interests do not stop there; they have expanded to include the organ trade sector. Private sources revealed to Al-Omana newspaper that elements affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood‘s Reform Party have been arrested for selling corpses of the deceased to the Houthis in Taiz.
According to the sources, checkpoints in Taiz captured individuals exporting bodies of Houthi deceased and selling them, receiving payments from the families of the deceased Houthi members. They confirm that the human organ trade is highly active in areas controlled by the Iran-affiliated militias.
It is worth noting that the Muslim Brotherhood controls large parts of the Taiz province, while Houthi militias dominate the neighboring areas of the Dhamar and Ibb provinces. Recently, there has been an announcement of joint coordination between the Brotherhood and the Houthis to manage the affairs of the province and redirect the focus of the war towards the south.
