“Don’t let it go through and get forgotten” A large international campaign to document the crimes of the Houthi militias

“As the crimes of the Iran-backed Houthi militias against the Yemeni people have grown more serious and the international community has demanded that they address this and solve the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, new demands have been made against the militias”.

Don’t let it go through

In conjunction with International Human Rights Day, Arab and foreign activists, journalists and human rights activists launched a massive online campaign on Friday to document and archive the crimes of the Houthi militia in Yemen under the slogan “don’t let it go through and get forgotten”.

Activists said that the campaign aims to document Houthi’s terrorist crimes in audio and video, which are being committed by Houthi elements against Yemenis in a systematic way for the seventh year in a row to be a witness to their terrorism.

Human rights defenders, journalists, media professionals and social media activists have called for participation in the campaign and for dissemination and interaction on crimes and violations committed by the militia by the hashtag ‎ ‎#Record_Houthi_Crimes.

Houthi’s latest losses

The militias have recently received heavy losses, with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announcing Friday that it carried out 31 attacks against Houthi militias in Marib and al-Jawf governorates within 24 hours.

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy destroyed 18 vehicles and caused over 180 militia casualties. The Coalition carried out five operations on the western coast to support the Sahel forces and protect civilians, as the West Coast operations targeted military vehicles and caused more than 25 casualties.

“The coalition has also made notable progress, taking a back-to-back toll on the Houthis, while the army has cut the Houthi supply line between Beihan and Harib”.

Dozens of strikes and air strikes have been carried out against militia positions and vehicles to protect civilians in the Yemeni province.

Since the beginning of this year, Houthi militias have intensified their targeting of Marib, which hosts thousands of residents and displaced people, using ballistic missiles and drones, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians through numerous terrorist attacks in horrific war crimes, in defiance of all international humanitarian laws and norms”.

“Meanwhile, Yemeni security forces seized a terrorist cell affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Marib province with weapons, improvised explosive devices and local and foreign funds in their possession”.

A Yemeni security source, quoted by the official Yemeni news agency Saba, said: Security forces also seized a Houthi terrorist cell with improvised explosive devices, medium and light weapons, and local and foreign funds in its possession, he said, adding that the operation followed accurate tracking and monitoring of the Houthi terrorist cell.

The cell was planning to carry out criminal and terrorist plans targeting military and civilian leaders and vital facilities, the source said.

Serious crimes

“In its October report, the Yemen Human Rights Information and Rehabilitation Center reported more than 70 violations against civilians by Iranian-backed Houthi militias in Taiz, southern Yemen”.

It reported that 35 civilians were killed and injured, 20 civilians, including 2 women and 6 children, and 15 others, including 2 women and 3 children, were injured indirect targeting, as well as artillery shells, mines, and explosive devices; a child was executed by Houthi militiamen.

Many international reports issued by the United Nations and human rights organizations over the past years have condemned the violations committed by the militia against Yemeni civilians, especially children, and their recruitment into its ranks. They called on the international community to intervene and put an end to these ongoing violations, which also take civilians as human shields in light of the poor economic and living conditions.
