The Korean Central News Agency reported that an official from North Korea‘s Ministry of Defense stated on Saturday that Pyongyang believes the United States must abandon its military threats if it is concerned about the safety of its territory.

The agency highlighted recent comments from the commander of the U.S. Northern Command regarding the ability of North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missiles to reach the U.S. mainland.

The report stated that it is the United States that has engaged in confrontational behavior, such as planning military drills with South Korea and sending a nuclear submarine to the Korean Peninsula.

It added that North Korea has the sovereign right to enhance its power to defend itself.
