Rapid Support Forces Deny Allegations of Bombing Nyala Airport, Accuse Port Sudan of Media Disinformation Campaign

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday denied accusations by the Sudanese army of bombing Nyala Airport or sites in the city of El Fasher, affirming that the city and its vital facilities “enjoy full protection and comprehensive security from all directions.”

In an official statement, the RSF’s media department said recent days had witnessed “a systematic disinformation campaign” led by television channels and social media platforms linked to remnants of the former regime. According to these allegations, the so-called “Sudanese Armed Forces” had targeted Nyala Airport, killing foreign fighters from Colombia.

The statement dismissed these claims as “utterly baseless,” describing them as part of a “dirty media war” aimed at covering up “the successive military defeats” of the Sudanese army, particularly on the Kordofan fronts, and diverting attention from “the collapse they are experiencing after heavy losses in equipment and lives.”

The RSF stressed that Nyala is secured by advanced air defense systems, recently reinforced, which have succeeded in downing Iranian drones as well as Bayraktar and Akıncı aircraft attempting to breach the city’s airspace. It stated that any hostile object approaching Nyala “will be destroyed immediately and decisively.”

The forces also rejected accusations of recruiting foreign fighters, calling them “pathetic lies devoid of logic,” and emphasized that their strength comes from “the free sons of Sudan” fighting for “freedom and social justice,” while accusing their opponents of relying on foreign militias currently stationed in Port Sudan and Wadi Sayidna.

The RSF concluded by assuring Nyala residents of the continued security stability of the city, noting that “daily life, markets, and parks” will remain protected, and that defense systems will be continuously upgraded to counter any future threats.
