Researcher in Islamic Movements: The Muslim Brotherhood betrayed Egypt and the Palestinian cause
The Muslim Brotherhood has reached a lamentable state of fragmentation, confusion, and frustration, appearing to disintegrate after colliding with the solid rock of the Egyptian state, starting from 2013 until now. This was affirmed by the researcher in the affairs of Islamic movements, Hisham El-Nagar, pointing to the betrayal of the Muslim Brotherhood to the Egyptian state and also to the Palestinian cause.
El-Nagar stated that frustration dominates the Muslim Brotherhood, classified as a terrorist organization in several countries, due to the unity of Egyptians behind the political leadership, as a result of Egypt’s resistance to all malicious schemes regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza. He pointed out in statements to the newspaper “Al-Yawm Al-Sabea” that the Egyptian state deprived the Muslim Brotherhood of achieving its dreams of monopolizing power, at the expense of the group making significant concessions in extremely dangerous and sensitive files to the Americans and Israelis.
He explained that the main reason for the alliance that emerged between the Muslim Brotherhood, the United States, and Western countries is the group’s readiness to compromise during its domination of power in Egypt over Sinai or part of it, to be an alternative homeland for the Palestinians. In return, the group gains American and Western approval and international recognition of its authority, while the U.S. and Israel gain a unique opportunity to settle the Palestinian issue and end the demands of refugee return, as well as undermining the constants of Jerusalem and establishing an independent Palestinian state. This means striking the Palestinian and Arab constants, foremost among them the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and the right of return for Palestinians in the diaspora.

The Muslim Brotherhood attempts to harm the Egyptian state through incitement against the government
He affirmed that Israel’s specific goals include expanding the Gaza Strip by annexing an area extending from Rafah to Sheikh Zuweid in the north, to serve as a base for resettling Palestinian refugees and transferring the population of Gaza to it. The Muslim Brotherhood‘s terrorist agenda aligned with this, presenting itself to the U.S. and Israel as the only party willing to make concessions that no Egyptian ruler has offered before, rejected by the national elites.
He confirmed that Egypt thwarted the plan that was actually implemented on the ground in Sinai, turning it into a jihadist province under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood and the administration of jihadists from Gaza and Sinai. This was based on an agreement between the Brotherhood and extremists, through intensified terrorist operations from all wings of the jihadist Salafist movement (ISIS and Al-Qaeda and their affiliates) that targeted all aspects of the state, including the military, police, national institutions, public facilities, and societal components, including tribes, Christians, and Sufis.
He said, “Egypt, with its stance rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their land, pulled the rug from under the feet of the Muslim Brotherhood and those who fish in troubled waters, fabricating wars and conflicts for malicious purposes.”
With the escalation of the Israeli war on Gaza in recent days, campaigns of attack and defamation by elements of the Muslim Brotherhood against active Arab roles have intensified, aimed at undermining the return to calm. Experts believe that the group does not cease its attempts to spread rumors, create chaos, and launch systematic defamation campaigns to prolong tension and escalation, as part of its policies to trade on the issue and the suffering of the Palestinian people.
