Somali parliament speaker calls on security leaders to stay away from politics
The new Somali Parliament Speaker, Sheik Adam Mohamed Nur Mudubi, called on the leaders of the security agencies to stay away from politics and not to take sides with any political party.
In the coming period, the new Somali Parliament Speaker, Sheik Adam Mohamed Nur Mudubi, will lead the country during the transitional period and the procedures for electing a new president.
On Tuesday, Mudubi held a meeting with all senior officers of the various security agencies, where he discussed the security situation during the upcoming elections.
Police, army, intelligence and security chiefs from the capital Mogadishu took part in the meeting, which was held at the residence of the speaker of parliament.
The speaker warned security service leaders not to engage in politics, and ordered that they receive orders only from him during the transition period until a new president is elected.
The Speaker of the Parliament agreed with the leadership of the security agencies to enhance security and work sincerely away from political polarization during the election period and not to take sides with any political party while adhering to professionalism.
The Somali parliament is scheduled to hold a joint session of the People’s Assembly and the Senate on Wednesday to discuss the presidential election schedule and the government budget for 2022.
