Study: Vegetarian Men More Likely to Face Early Death
A recent study has revealed that a diet rich in unhealthy plant-based foods could increase the risk of premature death.
Dutch researchers, after analyzing data from 70,000 Britons, found that individuals who frequently consumed plant-based sweets, bread, and roasted potatoes were more likely to experience frailty in middle age—a reliable indicator of early mortality.

In contrast, those who followed plant-based diets rich in fruits, fresh vegetables, and low-fat alternatives, such as tofu, were significantly stronger physically.
Every step of increasing frailty was associated with an 80% higher risk of death upon hospitalization.
While the study noted an increased risk of frailty in all individuals consuming more unhealthy plant-based foods, the danger was particularly pronounced among poorer men.

The findings, published in the journal Nutrition, Health and Aging, revealed that poorer British men consuming unhealthy vegetarian or vegan diets were 18% more likely to become frail compared to the average participant in the study.
The researchers highlighted that a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables contains more essential vitamins and minerals for healthy body functioning compared to a diet filled with refined grains, such as white bread and fizzy drinks, even though both diets are plant-based.
