Sudan: The Muslim Brotherhood Inflames the Situation in Khartoum

Leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood are obstructing peace efforts and halting the war, holding the Sudanese people hostage against the Rapid Support Forces, by declaring what they called popular resistance after the army failed to achieve even a single victory over its opponent since the war began on April 15th last year.

Among the numerous crises faced by the Sudanese people, most have lost their jobs since the war began, and the situation has worsened with the Brotherhood‘s refusal to stop it. This has led citizens to seek ways to flee the country through extremely dangerous means, primarily smuggling carried out by human trafficking gangs in exchange for large sums of money, and through unsafe routes, exposing them to extortion and sometimes death in the desert.

Human Suffering

The conflict in Sudan continues to heavily impact citizens, with vital infrastructure, including healthcare facilities, schools, roads, and other facilities such as energy and water sources, as well as communication infrastructure, being destroyed. Additionally, diseases, hunger, malnutrition, sexual violence, and gender-based violence are rampant, putting women and girls at increased risk.

Brotherhood’s Plan

In this context, Sudanese political analyst Osman Mirghani said: “The Brotherhood is doing everything possible to thwart any efforts to end the war, despite their significant losses on the ground, because ending the war means their inevitable end.” He noted that the Sudanese crisis is entering its second year and that the political conflict remains complex between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. This conflict is not just a power struggle, but also a result of a long history of tensions, exploited by infiltrating parties seeking to return to power and exploit resources. Their treachery became evident when the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan, known as the “Kizan,” attempted to twist and distort facts, sow discord, and escape their failure by blaming others and holding them responsible.

He added that since the outbreak of the war planned by the Muslim Brotherhood remnants of the former regime, propaganda has started hysterically, not against the Rapid Support Forces whose soldiers fight on the ground, but against the democratic civil forces.
