Sultan Al Neyadi studies sustainable food security in space (photos)
Egyptian astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has saved samples of tomatoes previously grown on board the International Space Station.
This comes as a prelude to its analysis as part of a study on sustainable food security in space (the Veg-05 Space Farming Experiment), according to the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center’s Twitter account.
Al Neyadi and crew-6 arrived at the ISS on SpaceX Dragon Endeavor on March 3rd to undertake the longest mission in Arab history in six months.
Launched by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center as part of the Emirates Astronaut Program, the mission to the International Space Station is the first long-term mission for Arab astronauts in history.
