Taiz residents rise up against the Muslim Brotherhood… Details

Activists in Taiz province, southwest Yemen, under the dominance of the (al-Islah) party, “the Muslim Brotherhood‘s arm in Yemen,” have called for a protest march and a partial civil disobedience next Thursday, in protest against the worsening living conditions and the continued depreciation of the national currency against foreign currencies.

The activists confirmed that citizens in areas controlled by the Brotherhood suffer greatly due to rising prices and the decline in the exchange rate. They pointed out that state employees’ salaries no longer even cover the most basic daily needs, while the legitimate authorities fail to take any action to halt the worsening living conditions and rising prices of goods, according to their statements.

They also stated that this economic deterioration coincided with the deprivation of thousands of poor people from the food aid provided by the World Food Program to millions of needy people in Yemen.

This comes amid the widespread phenomenon of Brotherhood-linked corruption in various state agencies, and the depletion of foreign currency reserves for the benefit of influential figures and senior officials.
