Taliban welcome UAE aid and hope to help operate Kabul airport
The Taliban welcomed on Friday the humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates, expressing the hope that it will contribute to the operation of Kabul airport soon.
A spokesman for the Afghan movement said: “We welcome the arrival of the first humanitarian aid plane from the UAE to Kabul airport, especially in light of the difficult conditions in the country.”
The spokesman expressed hope that the UAE would contribute to efforts to operate the airport in the capital Kabul.
Kabul airport has become the only airport in the country to receive international humanitarian aid under the prevailing conditions in the Asian country.
On Friday, the UAE sent a plane carrying emergency medical and food aid to Afghanistan.
This has contributed to the basic and essential needs of thousands of Afghan families, especially the most vulnerable groups such as women, children and the elderly.
This comes within the framework of the humanitarian role played by the United Arab Emirates in providing full support to the Afghan people in such circumstances. It is in the spirit of extending the white hands of the Emirates to help the Afghan people and to contribute to providing them with the necessary support and needs. It also reinforces the approach of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed ben Sultan Al Nahyane, and is committed to the approach of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates in consolidating the values of giving, tolerance and serving the human person.
Since the Taliban took control of the Afghan capital in mid-December, international efforts have accelerated with UAE support to evacuate diplomats, foreign nationals and Afghans who have cooperated with coalition forces over the past two decades.
