Terrorist Organizations Distort Religious Texts… What Did Ali Gomaa Say About This?

Former Egyptian Mufti Ali Gomaa stated that the terrorist organization (ISIS) and extremist groups are an innovation that has distorted the teachings of the Islamic religion.

Gomaa said in a media statement through the United Media Company channels: “What Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and similar terrorist organizations have done is an innovation because they have distorted texts from their contexts and have brought something that tarnishes the identity of Islam.”

He continued, saying: “Our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ‘I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.’ The terrorist organizations interpreted the words of the noble prophet according to their desires and saw that it was necessary to occupy Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and to sow discord, for the sake of a vision that is entrenched in their minds.

The hadith essentially says ‘I have been commanded,’ and not ‘You have been commanded as Muslims.’ The prophet said ‘I will fight,’ and in this context, ‘I will fight’ means there is a war, and not ‘You will fight,’ as he addressed his words to the people, and all the commentators agree that it refers to the Quraysh, not the entire land, and the Quran says: ‘People have gathered for you,’ and here ‘People’ means the Quraysh.

Dr. Ali Gomaa added: “The misguidance will not stop; our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: ‘There will be people who speak with our words but will not be among us.’ All these groups are in misguidance because the noble prophet defended himself and the message, but these extremist groups kill innocents for purposes in the hearts of these groups”.
