The Brotherhood’s Gang in Taiz: Military Leaders Plunder Citizens’ Property and Impose Levies.
Amid the indifference of the Presidential Leadership Council and the criminal gangs affiliated with the Brotherhood, the residents of Yemen’s Taiz province have lost hope of seeing state institutions operate since the Houthis‘ coup against the state and its institutions in 2015.
According to the local website “Al-Omana,” Abdulrahman Al-Khoulani reports that the leader of an armed gang linked to the Fourth Brigade of the 17th Infantry Division, led by Omar Ali Sultan, affiliated with the leadership of this division, ordered a group of individuals on military vehicles to descend on the Wadi Bani Khulan area, south of the Jabal Habashi district, which is administratively affiliated with it.
Upon their arrival, they randomly fired live ammunition and assaulted the citizens’ lands in Wadi Bani Khulan, attempting to loot and seize them by force, even though they belong to the local residents who possess all the documents proving their ownership.

Al-Khoulani added that the gang arrived heavily armed, firing indiscriminately, creating terror among the citizens due to this irresponsible behavior and without any legitimate reason other than blind fanaticism alongside the adversaries of the landowners who falsely and maliciously claim their right to the land. These adversaries have already been legally condemned. The source expressed surprise at the presence of this gang under the command of the Fourth Brigade of the 17th Infantry Division, under the leadership of the Taiz Axis.
The website also reported that an armed gang stormed the Endowment Office in Taiz last Thursday, led by Hakim Jamil, brother of the Deputy Governor of the province, Aref Jamil. According to a report from the Endowment Office, Jamil intimidated the employees and threatened the head of properties, Fouad Mahyoub, with removal from the office.
The report confirmed that Jamil and his armed men threatened to close the office, under the pretext of not receiving his file. “After an hour of dispute, Hakim and his men left the office,” the report said.
The Endowment Office suspended its activities in protest against this armed intrusion and the threats faced by the employees. According to a source in the Endowment, this intrusion reveals the extent of the security chaos in the city and the lawlessness sown by the armed men supported by the local, military, and security authorities in the province.
Additionally, a teacher at the Al-Wahda School, located in the Milat area of Bilad Al-Wafi district, west of Taiz, reported that soldier Younis Ali Mohammed Said, affiliated with the 17th Infantry Division of the Taiz Axis command, assaulted the school’s administration.
He added that the armed man closed the school and prevented the continuation of student registration, threatening the school principal, Ms. Jamila Al-Wafi, with physical elimination if she approached to reopen the school, all in the presence of nearby military and security authorities.
The influence of armed gangs affiliated with the Brotherhood‘s militias in Taiz has escalated in recent times, with their involvement in assassinating those who oppose the Brotherhood‘s terrorist militia’s policies and in looting public and private properties.
