In accordance with the directives of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, the Governor of Aden, the Minister of State and the Director of the General Electricity Corporation received the arrival of the 120 Mega Solar Power Plant, provided by the United Arab Emirates.

New developments are under way at Yemen’s largest solar power plant, which will help solve the electricity crisis that is troubling citizens in the temporary capital of Aden.

Equipment to operate a solar-powered power plant goes to the oil port in Aden, the interim capital.

The UAE’s Masdar Company is planning to construct Yemen’s largest solar power plant to alleviate citizens’ hardship. The plant is slated to go into operation before summer, and temperatures are rising.

Execution time

Aden governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas received the station’s 120-megawatt equipment from the United Arab Emirates.

Yemen’s largest solar power plant is a huge boost to the energy sector in the temporary capital, Aden, reducing operating costs and the need for fuel to power existing plants.

The delivery to Aden included power plant equipment, including solar panels, connectors and distribution transformers.

It is expected that the installation of the largest solar power plant will begin in the coming days, in preparation for its entry into service next May.

The Aden plant is expected to be the largest solar power plant in Yemen, which has begun turning to clean energy to meet the electricity needs of its citizens in light of rising fuel prices and the aging of conventional power plants.

Project details

Yemen, represented by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, signed an agreement Wednesday (December 21st, 2022) to build the country’s largest solar power plant with the UAE’s Masdar.

The plant is the first solar power project in Aden, with a capacity of 120 megawatts per hour.

The largest solar power plant in Yemen includes transmission lines and transmission and distribution stations. It is the first and largest strategic project to generate electricity through clean and renewable energy in Yemen.

The plant aims to reduce the cost of generating electricity during the day, reduce the need for fuel at power stations and support Yemen’s plans to conserve the environment by reducing carbon emissions.
