The new gas agreement between Qatar and the Taliban.. Who is the beneficiary?

Qatar continues to seek all means to support its new ally, the Taliban, to legitimize the terrorist movement and to empower it with all the components of the state. This is why Qatar rushed to conclude a new agreement to supply natural gas after the operation of the airport in the capital Kabul.

“On September 9, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed ben Abderrahmane Al‑Thani visited Tehran, where he met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian and discussed issues of mutual interest, which raised many questions.”

“Following the meeting, leaks circulated about attempts at rapprochement between Tehran and the Taliban.”

The leaks also revealed that the agreement between Qatar, Afghanistan, and Iran is due to Doha’s desire to take advantage of the rising prices of natural gas globally; In addition to the instability of the situation in Afghanistan so far, it is trying to build it for itself.

Through this new agreement, Qatar is trying to make up for its huge losses in constructing the Khalifa International Stadium and preparing for the 2022 World Cup. As a result, Qatar has invested heavily in natural gas in Afghanistan.

The new agreement is expected to be announced and the production line will begin by the end of this year. Leaks indicate that the pipeline’s production capacity may reach 5 million cubic feet as an initial stage.

More than 10 days ago, the international news agency Tasnim said: Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed ben Abderrahmane Al‑Thani met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The Qatari Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of senior Qatari officials and shed light on developments in Afghanistan.

This is the second country visit since Raissi came to power, as the Qatari Foreign Minister participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President and held a discussion session with him to confirm the relations between the two countries and begin a new phase of rapprochement with the new regime.

A high-ranking source revealed that the visit aims at rapprochement between Tehran and the Taliban, in light of the movement’s control over Afghanistan and the growing influence of Qatar in it, adding that the Iranian regime asked Qatar to inject huge funds in the coming period, in order to support the new Iranian President Ebrahim Raissi in light of the current crises in Tehran.
