The UAE declares the success of its mediation in the exchange of prisoners between Moscow and Kyiv
The UAE provided humanitarian mediation in the prisoner exchange process between Russia and Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today, Wednesday, that the UAE acted as a mediator in the prisoner exchange operation that took place today between Russia and Ukraine.
The statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense read: “The United Arab Emirates successfully mediated the return of Russian soldiers from captivity.”
Earlier today, the Russian Defense announced the return of 195 Russian military personnel from captivity in Ukraine, indicating their transfer for medical treatment and rehabilitation in Moscow. The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying, “On January 31, as a result of negotiations, 195 Russian military personnel, who faced mortal danger in captivity in territories controlled by the Kiev regime, were returned.” The statement added, “In return, 195 Ukrainian prisoners of war were returned to Kyiv.”
The Russian military operation, which began on February 24, 2022, has entered its second winter, aiming to protect the residents of Donbass who have been subjected to persecution and extermination by the Kiev regime for years. Despite the significant financial and military support provided by NATO and several Western countries allied with Washington to the Kiev regime, the Russian forces have thwarted the Ukrainian “counterattack”.
