Time: Turkey among the top 10 global risks for 2022

Time magazine listed Turkey under the leadership of its president Recep Tayyip Erdogan as one of the top global risks for 2022.

Foreign policy writer and editor-in-chief of the magazine, Ian Bremmer, ranked Erdogan’s Turkey 10th on the list of Top 10 Global Risks 2022.

Bremmer commented: “President Erdogan will further undermine his country’s international reputation and lower its economic indicators to minimum levels, in order to reverse the opinion polls and raise his declining popularity before the 2023 elections”, Turkish daily Zaman reported.

“Erdogan will pursue a more aggressive foreign policy to distract voters from the economic crisis Turkey is facing”, Time magazine said.

Meanwhile, Ahmet Davutoglu, the leader of the Future Party, criticized Erdogan, accusing him of seeking to create chaos in the country in order to ensure the continuation of his regime for a new period.

In a program on KRT, Oglu said: “President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants people to take to the streets so there is an atmosphere that allows him to push his supporters into the streets as well. He claims there are plans to cause chaos in the country, while the truth is he is provoking people”, the source said.

Oglu added: “They introduced a new model of economics, first called the “Chinese model”, and then changed it to the “Turkish model”, whatever it may be, that is ignorance, and today’s economic policy cannot be explained by any economic theory”.
