Rakesh Gurung from the Tourism Authority responsible for the mountaineering sector told Agence France-Presse, “The helicopter rescue team found five bodies,” noting that the victims had fallen.

Gurung added that a sixth climber, who had returned before the accident, was rescued and transported to a hospital in Kathmandu.
Deadly mountain accidents are common in Nepal, whose peaks above 8,000 meters attract climbers from around the world. In 2023, these accidents claimed the lives of 18 people, a record number.
