Tunisian President: The fight against corruption will continue without complacency

Tunisian President Kais Saied said in an exclusive statement on Saturday that “we will not overlook our sovereignty while we die and live the country, and our support is the people.”

On the sidelines of his visit to the headquarters of the “La Presse de Tunisie” newspaper in Tunis, the Tunisian president said: “We do not fear rabid campaigns that reject every national system.” He added: “We fear only God and the word of truth, and I do not hesitate to reveal them.. Our goal is reform”.

“The war on corruption will continue unabated, and those who seek to disrupt this path to resist swarms of locusts that have spread everywhere are among the corrupt,” Saied said.

“Our country will fulfill the will of the people, and the new parliament, which will legislate with the will of the people, will be held accountable for wrongdoings.. And then the Regions and Regions Council, which is to be established through elections, whose task is to achieve integration among Tunisians.”

He stressed that “the marginalized will be represented in the Regions and Regions Council and will be a decision-maker.”

Tunisian President Kais Saied has previously said that Tunisia is fighting a war of national liberation against corruption.

The first session of the new parliament begins next Monday, as a step that ends the era of Brotherhood rule.

The Tunisian President continued his speech, saying, “We will not accept any neglect in the institution of journalism because it is part of Tunisia’s history,” adding that “the financial difficulties that the institution suffers from are due to misconduct for many years.”

“They gave up the headquarters, which is 350,000 dinars,” which is equivalent to 100,000 dollars a year, and then they wonder where the money went,” he said.

The Press Association in Tunisia is facing financial difficulties, and its journalists and workers organized protests demanding their financial dues.
