Turkey freezes assets of 770 terrorists


Turkish authorities announced the freezing of financial assets inside the country for 770 members of terrorist and leftist organizations.

“The decision included members of cleric Fethullah Gulen’s group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Al-Quds Army, the Islamic Movement and other leftist groups”, the ministry said.

According to the source, 454 members of the organization of the Turkish cleric who resides in the United States, most notably Adil Oaksoz, one of the civilians who engineered the failed coup attempt in 2016, have had their assets frozen.

The financial assets of the US-based Gulen group’s Niagara Waqf were also frozen.

The assets of 108 people belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is listed locally as a terrorist organization, have also been frozen, most notably Nurettin Demirtaş, brother of former Peoples’ Democratic Party President Selahattin Demirtaş.

It also froze the financial assets of 119 persons belonging to terrorist organizations that exploit religion, such as Hezbollah, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, the Islamic Movement Organization, Al-Quds Army, and Al-Nusra.

This is in addition to freezing the financial assets of 84 people belonging to other leftist terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front.
