Turning Notes into Voice: A New AI Feature from Google

Google is testing a new feature that allows users to transform their notes into AI-generated podcasts.

The experimental feature, currently available in NotebookLM, can take notes, summarize materials, and make connections between topics to turn your documents into engaging audio discussions.

Turning Notes into Voice

The tech giant stated in a blog post that with just one click, AI can start a lively, in-depth discussion based on your prompts, converting your notebook on your phone from text to voice.

Users can also download these AI-generated voice conversations, which use modern expressions and sound like human speech.

However, AI sometimes misspells words and phrases when reading them aloud.
To use this new feature, open one of your notebooks in NotebookLM, and click the “Generate” button to create an audio overview.

While this new feature may be a useful tool to engage users with your notes, Google says the function is still experimental and has some known limitations.

For example, if you have a large notebook, it may take a few minutes to create the audio overview. Additionally, this AI-supported feature is currently limited to English.

It is worth noting that earlier this year, Google expanded NotebookLM to over 200 countries and upgraded the core language model supporting NotebookLM to Gemini 1.5 Pro.
