Two earthquakes hit Iran in less than 24 hours
Two earthquakes struck Iranian territory within 24 hours, specifically in Kerman province in the southeast of the country, with magnitudes ranging between 4.6 and 4.7 on the Richter scale.
The National Center for Seismology, affiliated with the Institute of Geophysics at Tehran University, stated that a 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit Kerman province in southeast Iran at around 8:00 a.m. local time on Thursday.
According to available information, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded in the Faryab region of the province, with a depth of 9 km, and no damage or casualties were reported.
The previous day, Kerman province was also hit by another earthquake of magnitude 4.6, with no reports of damage or casualties.
While the US Geological Survey mentioned that the earthquake that struck Kerman province in Iran on Thursday had a magnitude of 4.5, the UAE National Seismic Network reported a magnitude of 5.3.
The UAE National Meteorological Center tweeted today, Thursday, via its account on the “X” platform: “The stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network, affiliated with the National Meteorological Center, recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale in southern Iran at 08:23, on 02/05/2024, according to local time in the United Arab Emirates”.
