UAE-Egypt-Jordan – Industrial partnership for sustainable economic growth
The Jordanian-UAE-Egyptian relations are witnessing a new phase of economic relations during this period through the launch of the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development to continue exploring opportunities and investment in vital areas of common strategic interest to the three countries.
The partnership focuses on investing in five industrial sectors, including agriculture, food, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, textiles, minerals and petrochemicals, to promote economic development, achieve industrial integration and integrate value chains between Jordan, the UAE and Egypt, according to a partnership conference held Sunday in Abu Dhabi.
Economic integration
Dr. Iyad Al-Majali, professor of international relations at Mu’tah University in Jordan, said that in light of the international and regional polarization taking place throughout the Middle East, the “Egyptian-Jordanian-Emirati” alliance is considered the nucleus of great Arab economic integration.
The economic benefits of the three countries, pointing out that Egypt benefits by passing the existing liquefied natural gas line and the gas or oil pipeline, in addition to sustainable economic development among the three countries.
Al-Majali said that launching a sustainable industrial partnership between the three countries is very important and has a great impact on developing the areas of cooperation between the three different parties, especially the political will that is forming, noting that the partnership step is important and has an impact on the economies of the three countries, and emphasizes the coordination of the Arab world under the umbrella of the Arab regional system in facing the challenges facing the countries of the region as a whole.
He added that the most important thing is to confront regional interference and the movement of regional and international forces on the capabilities of the Arab region, which is a very dangerous element in the Arab world. The tripartite alliance aims to reach a collective alliance in the Arab region between 22 countries present in the Arab world, just like the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian alliance.
Al-Majali said the Three Countries Alliance for Sustainable Development aims to regulate a number of security, economic and political issues.
He continued: “Jordan and Egypt enjoy an active role that comes close to controlling the Arab League’s decision and directing it in line with its foreign policies and positions, according to the Jordanian researcher”.
New Economic Era
Dr. Tariq Fahmi said the UAE, Jordan and Egypt have declared a new economic era with the goal of creating a sustainable industrial and economic zone and the main purpose of the three countries is to explore opportunities and invest in vital areas of common strategic interest.
The partnership will focus on five sectors – the food, fertilizer, metal and pharmaceutical industries – with the main objective of promoting economic development and defining economic solidarity between Egypt, the UAE and Jordan, he said.
In addition, $10 billion will be allocated for industrial projects that are symbiotic, serve the areas of sustainable development and competitive industries in this regard, and strengthen the manufacturing sectors, which are considered a qualitative leap by the three countries.
Industrial advantage
This partnership is strengthened by leveraging the industrial advantages of the three countries, developing their areas of common strategic objectives that include sustainable growth, developing competitive world-class industries, promoting value-added manufacturing, providing secure and flexible supply chains, and promoting the growth and integration of value and trade chains among the three countries.
The new partnership comes as an extension of the strong economic relations between the UAE and Egypt on the one hand and the UAE and Jordan on the other. It is also in line with the UAE’s vision to strengthen the role of the industrial sector and link it with technology as one of the most important economic components that receives the attention of the government, which seeks to attract foreign investments to it, and to introduce modern technology, which would provide it with factors of competitiveness with the international industrial sectors.
The partnership is also a platform for future cooperation and is based on the promotion of openness, industrial development, the exchange of economic benefits and the exchange of experiences. It is the basis for the establishment of large joint industrial projects, which contribute to the creation of jobs, the promotion of domestic product growth, the diversification of the economy and the achievement of strong export growth.
