UAE Field Hospital… Intensive Efforts to Support Sudanese Refugees in Chad

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has constructed a field hospital in the Chadian city of Am Djurass to support Sudanese refugees in Chad.

The hospital continues to provide services to Sudanese refugees, offering medical examinations, diagnoses, and surgical procedures when necessary.

Since its opening on July 9th until the 23rd of the same month, the field hospital has received 1,744 Sudanese patients in need of treatment. The total included 173 orthopedic cases, 225 surgeries, 1,346 internal medicine cases, and 11 surgical procedures.

The establishment of the hospital is part of the humanitarian, relief, and medical support provided by the UAE to Sudanese individuals affected by the difficult humanitarian conditions resulting from the war in their country since early April.

This noble initiative from the UAE aims to alleviate the suffering of Sudanese people due to displacement from their countries and the impacts of war on their mental and physical health and humanitarian conditions.

Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, the UAE humanitarian team conducted an inspection visit to the UAE Field Hospital in Am Djurass, Chad.

Representatives from the UAE Red Crescent Authority carried out this visit to implement humanitarian work and monitor the hospital’s operations, which offer diverse medical services including examinations, diagnoses, and surgical procedures to targeted groups such as children, women, elderly, Sudanese patients, and local community members.

Dr. Ahmed Obaid Al Dhaheri, the UAE Red Crescent representative in Chad, affirmed that the delegation’s goal was to assess the medical, nutritional, and humanitarian needs of the refugees in order to provide support and alleviate their suffering caused by the current situation in their country.
