Unable to compete.. What is behind the Qatari-Iranian campaign against UAE companies?

The Qatari-Iranian alliance’s attempts to distort the image of the United Arab Emirates and to doubt the success of any entity attributed to the Emirates abroad are not stopped. The latest attempts of this distortion came after the victory of the Gaac company for the operation of three Afghan airports, amidst Emirati-U.N. attempts to save the Afghan people from the successive crises they are suffering after the terrorist Taliban took over the country.

Emirati success

The Turkish website “Ahval” confirmed that the UAE won this deal due to its long and honorable history in managing airports and owning them. The UAE has world-leading aviation companies and is far from the many accusations against other companies in the world, foremost among them the Qatar Airways Company, which is accused of corruption and exploiting global crises to achieve imaginary profits. Many countries in the world seek to cooperate with the UAE in the field of aviation.

According to the website, the main reason behind the attempt to discredit the company is Qatar’s failure to win this deal. Last May, the Afghan government chose the UAE to manage the airport, due to its long and honorable history in this industry. The Taliban signed an agreement with the UAE Company to take over ground handling at three airports in Afghanistan, amidst great hopes that the UAE Company will encourage international commercial airlines to return to Afghanistan once again. This has already been achieved, as some international airlines returned to work in Afghanistan. The agreement with the UAE only concerns logistics services at Kabul, Herat and Kandahar airports, and does not include insurance.

Qatar’s plans

According to the website, Qatar has pledged to provide security services to the airports, but has not offered any projects to Afghanistan, content with dialog with the Taliban, hosting meetings and international movements to portray the country seeking diplomacy, but has failed in all its plans. These talks about the airports revealed how Qatar is seeking to assert its influence in Afghanistan with the help of Turkey and Iran. So far, Qatar has not worked to repair relations between the Taliban government and the world or convince the movement to abandon some of its restrictions.

High-ranking Afghan sources said at the beginning of this year that there is ongoing work within the government to counter the increasing influence of Qatar in Afghanistan, after the failure of the small Gulf emirate to achieve any successes in Afghanistan or to implement the projects promised to it, especially the establishment of a number of schools and hospitals and the provision of humanitarian aid. In contrast to the major role played by the United Arab Emirates in supporting the Afghan people and providing them with all means of assistance, and according to international reports, the Turkish-Qatari-Iranian plans in Afghanistan are the only goal of turning the country into a safe haven for extremist groups, foremost of which is ISIS, and the transfer of the main office and leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group to it, which fuels conflicts in Afghanistan, which is already suffering from terrorism and years of internal fighting.
