War of Rumors… Muslim Brotherhood Lies Shatter on the Rock of Southern Yemen

After their military failure, the joint media apparatus of the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood and their allies turned to a campaign of rumors in the south.

This campaign was shattered against the rock of southern Yemeni awareness, which bravely confronted the falsehoods aimed at sowing chaos in the east of the country through exposed lies.

There is a series of rumors spread by Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood outlets and pro-Arab local media, including claims of the “abduction of the director of Al-Mokha port,” “clashes in Al-Mahra,” “looting at Riyan airport camp,” and a falsified document alleging “qat tax looting” in Hadramout Valley.

Abduction of Al-Mokha Port Director

  • Claim: armed elements of the Southern Transitional Council were behind the abduction of engineer Salim Basamir, director of Al-Mokha Port.
  • Reality: unknown armed men kidnapped the chairman of the Arab Sea Ports Authority, engineer Salim Basamir, in front of his home in Al-Mokha. Security forces are conducting investigations to identify the perpetrators.

A security source confirmed that Al-Mokha is under the control of Hadrami Elite Forces, who, in coordination with the authorities, are investigating the abduction.

The local leadership of the Southern Transitional Council in Hadramout denied any involvement, affirming that it “is responsibly following the incident in coordination with relevant authorities to identify the real perpetrators and preserve the security and stability of the region.”

Looting at Riyan Airport

  • Claim: some media outlets, citing the governor of Hadramout, claimed that Riyan Airport had been looted after the withdrawal of UAE forces and that clashes had occurred.
    • Reality: a security source confirmed that no looting or clashes took place and that the Second Military Region Command is responsible for airport security, not the local authorities.

The military command denounced these rumors and warned against falling for lies aimed at “disrupting security and stability.”

    Clashes in Al-Mahra

    • Claim: pro-Muslim Brotherhood activists claimed that clashes broke out in Al-Ghaydah, the capital of Al-Mahra, between southern government forces and local residents.
    • Reality: senior security and local officials confirmed that no clashes occurred, clarifying that the gunfire was part of a wedding celebration, with security forces tracking the shooters.

    Qat Tax

    • Claim: documents circulated by allies of the Muslim Brotherhood claimed that the Transitional Council had effectively taken control of sovereign resources in Hadramout Valley by imposing qat taxes outside the state framework.
    • Reality: the Southern Transitional Council’s auxiliary executive authority in Hadramout valley and desert denied the authenticity of the documents, stating they are “clearly falsified and unrelated to the council.” The statement clarified that phrases such as “according to directives from the president’s office and highest level” are never used in official correspondence, clearly revealing an attempt to mislead the public.

The statement emphasized that the Transitional Council has no connection to qat taxes or any other taxes, which remain under the authority of official institutions.

These rumors are part of a systematic campaign by Muslim Brotherhood outlets and the Presidential Council head Rashad Al-Alimi, including allegations that southern government forces had evacuated positions in Hadramout, which were proven false, as operations were conducted jointly with the Homeland Shield Forces.

    Purpose of the Rumors

According to the Transitional Council, these rumors are funded by known entities and aim to falsify facts, destabilize security and stability in Hadramout Valley and Desert, and undermine the successes and victories achieved by southern government forces and state institutions.
