Waves transporting material… Scientists reveal a surprise

Scientists from the Joint Institute for High Temperatures, affiliated with the Russian Academy of Sciences, have discovered the possibility of transferring energy and matter through waves.

It turns out that solitary waves of solitons have the ability to transport matter, not just energy, according to a statement issued by the institute’s press service.

Scientists reveal the secret of ‘planet shrinking.’ In the details provided in the press release, physicists explained to Sputnik Agency that the traditional concept assumes that waves transport energy and information without transferring matter. However, physicists at the Joint Institute for High Temperatures analyzed the characteristics of solitons, which are solitary waves that appear due to the balance of nonlinear and dispersive effects.

As part of the study, physicists analyzed the properties of ‘strange’ waves, which are acoustic plasma solitons, and found that when they move, they transport matter in one direction.

This discovery proves that the transfer of matter is an integral property of solitons, which differs from the prevailing notion in modern physics. Fyodor Troitsky, the institute’s chief researcher, said that this discovery is not only theoretically important but can also be used in various fields.

This data can be used to improve the safety of power grids and provide more accurate space weather forecasts. It can also be applied to analyze flows of charged particles in plasma, including space plasma, and to study processes in Earth’s magnetic envelope and solar activity.
