Araghtchi stated to Iranian state television, “Since yesterday, we have received messages and statements from various countries. The level of condemnation from countries both in the region and internationally is significant.” He added, “We have requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, although we do not expect results from this meeting in the presence of the U.S. and some other countries.”
Araghtchi reiterated his accusation that the U.S. supports Israel in its military aggression against Iran and in destabilizing the region, calling on Washington to halt what he described as Israel’s “crimes.”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on Sunday during a parliamentary session to discuss Israel’s attack that, “although Israel’s military action against Iran was negative and turned into yet another defeat for this regime, Iran considers itself entitled to self-defense within the framework of legitimate self-defense rights.”
“The response to Israel will be decisive, and Article 51 of the UN Charter permits it,” he added. “The response to this aggression will be firm and according to requirements.”
