Yemen: Al-Qaeda Supports the Muslim Brotherhood – Details
Al-Qaeda in Yemen has threatened to continue targeting southern forces in the provinces of Shabwah and Abyan, in support of forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood group, which has suffered significant defeats in several provinces recently. This reflects the reality of the relationship between the extremist organization and the group classified as a terrorist organization in many countries.
The affiliated media foundation of the organization, known as “Ansar al-Sharia,” has released a new visual release titled “Arrows of Truth 2,” documenting the attacks carried out by the organization’s members in recent weeks against southern forces in the provinces of Shabwah and Abyan using explosive devices and mortar shelling of certain sites.
The new aspect in this release includes footage of the organization’s drone strikes targeting defensive positions of Shabwah’s forces, as well as nighttime sniper operations targeting elements of the forces and an attack on one of their positions.
Similar to previous releases, Al-Qaeda renewed its fierce attack against the United Arab Emirates and the southern forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, attempting to portray itself as the defending force for southerners and their interests.
In the release, Al-Qaeda elements claimed that the southern forces and the UAE are trying to control various areas to achieve their hidden objectives in Yemen, affirming that the terrorist organization is the true force standing against the southern Emirati plan.
Previously, Al-Qaeda in Yemen has called for support to the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Al-Islah Party in Yemen, against the Arab coalition and the Presidential Council, following the defeats suffered by the group in several provinces.d
