Yemen – Houthi militia continue to violate truce

The Houthi terrorist militia continued to violate the UN military and humanitarian truce on various fronts in Marib, al-Jawf, Saada, Hajjah, Taiz, and Dhale governorates.

In a report published yesterday, the National Army said that the Houthi militia committed 131 violations of the truce during Wednesday and Thursday, including 49 violations on the fronts of the Taiz axis, 34 violations on the fronts west of Hajjah, 28 violations on the southern, western and north-western fronts of Marib, 13 violations east and north of the city of Al-Hazm in al-Jawf, 6 violations on the axis of Dhale and one violation on the Razeh front west of Saada, according to the official news agency Saba.

The violations included attempts by armed Houthi groups to infiltrate army positions south of Marib, the continued firing of artillery and various rounds on army positions on all fronts, militia activity in constructing roads, creating positions and fortifications, bringing in reinforcements and flying reconnaissance flights, the report said.

Commenting on the report, Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani said: The Houthi group has been violating the truce from day one on various fronts.

In a series of tweets yesterday, he said the national army had detected 1924 violations of the truce by the Houthis since it was announced nearly three weeks ago.

In a series of tweets, he said the violations were distributed across the battlefronts with various types of weapons, including weapons in Marib, Hodeidah, Taiz, Dhale, Hajjah, Saada, al-Jawf, Abyan and Lahij.

He called on the international community, the UN and the UN envoy to condemn the Houthis’ continued violations of the UN truce.

The United Nations announced on April 1st that the Yemeni parties agreed to a two-month truce that began the next day. They also announced a comprehensive halt to military operations, the opening of Sanaa airport to predetermined regional destinations, and the approval of ships carrying fuel to the port of Hodeidah.
