Yemen’s Brotherhood continues diplomatic tightrope walking

The Muslim Brotherhood group in Yemen continues its diplomatic tightrope walking. After their media institutions promoted the victories of the Houthis in the Red Sea and supported their halting of international navigation, ship strikes, and abductions, an official from the Islah Party (the Muslim Brotherhood‘s arm in Yemen) criticized the voices that engaged in promoting and “whitewashing” the Houthi militias affiliated with Iran, because of their recent stance on the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The head of the media department of the Islah Party, Ali Al-Jaradi, stated in a statement published yesterday by the Yemeni scene website, “There is a futile political and media campaign telling Yemenis (to align with the Houthi militias as long as they stand with Gaza).”

He pointed out that “the Houthi militias aim, through their support for Palestine, to (whiten and wash their crimes against Yemenis, and search for moral legitimacy to stay and recruit youth and collect money, and escape from domestic responsibilities, presenting themselves as guardians of Yemen to the region and the world).”

He further noted, “The Houthi militias have committed atrocities and crimes against Yemenis, just as the Zionist occupation does in Palestine.”

The leader in the Islah Party stated that “the Houthis have destroyed the Yemeni state, displaced Yemenis from their homes, killed their women and children, destroyed their houses and mosques, stolen their money, and arrested thousands, with hundreds coming out crippled due to torture.”

He also emphasized that “the Houthi militias recruit and mobilize under the banner of the Al-Aqsa storm, and these crowds are sent to the fronts of the coast, Dhale, Taiz, Marib, and Shabwa to fight Yemenis and attempt to overthrow the Yemeni state, just as the Iranian Quds Force and Hezbollah militias did by heading to kill Syrian children and women on their way to liberate Jerusalem, as they claim.”

Al-Jaradi confirmed that “the Houthis, as a racist movement, have violated the blood and rights of Yemenis and see themselves as heirs to them, no less guilty than what the Zionists do in Palestine.”

He said, “Just as the Palestinian stands against the racist occupier, so will the Yemeni in confronting the racist occupier.”

He added, “It is not permissible to stand behind a person who leads people in prayer while they resent him, so how about standing behind someone who killed and committed crimes against the sons of Yemen, then wants to wash his crimes by claiming to stand with a just cause like Palestine?!”

The statements by the head of the media department of the Islah Party came after a stir caused by leaders in his party, including prominent Reformist Council member “Mohamed Al-Hazmi Al-Idrisi,” and Mohamed, the son of prominent Sheikh Abdul Majid Al-Zindani, and other media figures affiliated with the Islah Party, who praised the Houthi operations, promoted them widely, boasted about them, and presented the militias loyal to Iran as if they represent Yemen and the Yemeni people, which sparked widespread controversy and criticism against them.
