10 Countries and 2 Regions: The “Alternative Homelands” Proposed by Trump and Israel for Gaza Residents

As soon as U.S. President Donald Trump proposed relocating the residents of Gaza abroad, a list of ten potential host countries emerged.

In his speeches, Trump repeatedly mentioned Jordan, Egypt, and unspecified “other countries.”

Israeli officials, on the other hand, suggested eight additional countries and two regions in Somalia. Interestingly, they did not propose the Negev region in southern Israel, despite its initial consideration as a temporary relocation area for Gazans until the war ended and their homes were rebuilt.

Similarly, Israel did not propose moving displaced residents to the West Bank temporarily while their homes were reconstructed, despite Gaza and the West Bank being part of a single geographic and political entity.

It is noteworthy that all the countries mentioned have outright rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Here is the list of countries involved:

  • Jordan
Donald Trump mentioned Jordan multiple times and announced that he would discuss the matter with King Abdullah II during his visit to Washington next week.
However, Jordan has categorically refused the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
  • Egypt
Egypt was also frequently mentioned by Trump, but Cairo has firmly rejected any forced relocation of Palestinians.
  • Albania
According to Israeli news channel Channel 12, Albania was among the countries considered for relocating Palestinians from Gaza.
However, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama denied these claims on X, stating: “I haven’t heard such fake news in a long time… There has been a lot of fake news recently! This is completely false.”
He added: “Full respect and solidarity with the people of Gaza, but let me be clear: no one has approached Albania, and we cannot even consider assuming such a responsibility.”
