4 People Killed Due to Heavy Rains in Yemen
Four Yemenis have died and 36 others injured in the eastern part of the country on Monday following heavy rains, according to the Emergency Committee in Al Mahrah Governorate.
The Emergency Committee stated that initial damage reports indicate the death of 4 citizens and injuries to 36 others, in addition to the displacement of hundreds of families from their homes, due to the heavy rains that reached 108 millimeters in the Al Ghaydah district, the center of the governorate.
It noted that the rains caused damage to main and secondary roads, as well as to electricity and communication networks, and led to the collapse of several bridges and ferries.
The area witnessed heavy rainfall last weekend, resulting in the flow of flash floods due to unstable weather conditions.
Authorities in the governorate decided to suspend classes to ensure the safety of students and to prepare schools to serve as potential shelters for affected families.
