France will send two military planes, with search and rescue experts, to Lebanon after Beirut explosion
France prepares to send two military planes to Lebanon today with search and rescue experts, and 15 tonnes of sanitary devices and an equipped mobile clinic to treat 500 people injured in the big explosion at Beirut port on Tuesday, in what the presidency reported.
The presidency said that the planes programs to leave from Charles de Gaulle airport outside Paris around midday (1000 GMT) to arrive in Beirut late afternoon containing 55 civil security personnel on board. It added that a dozen emergency personnel will also be sent to Beirut in future to reinforce hospitals in the Lebanese capital.
President Emmanuel Macron appeals to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun yesterday to express the support of France for the Lebanese people and promising an expedition of French assistance. Moreover, the Elysee said that the 55 rescuers being deployed today are specialists in post-disaster rubble clearing and rescue, it added that France was working to identify additional needs on Beirut.
Yesterday, a tragic explosion at the port of Beirut conducted to the spread of ravage across entire neighborhoods, killing more than 100 people and injuring thousands. It appears that the explosion has been caused by a fire igniting 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate which left unsecured in a warehouse.
