Elon Musk’s child, 18, reportedly files to change name, cut ties with Tesla CEO

She now wishes to be named Vivian Jenna Wilson (her mother’s maiden name). Born Xavier Alexander, Elon Musk’s transgender daughter, filed a lawsuit with the Los Angeles Superior Court in Santa Monica, seeking to change her name from male to female, TMZ revealed on Tuesday, June 21.

The woman who celebrated her 18th birthday in April hopes to adopt a name in line with her gender identity – but not only. Asked in court why she changed her mind, the young woman replied: “My gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with my biological father and no longer wish to be linked to him in any way, shape or form.”

An “aesthetic nightmare”

Neither Vivian nor her father ever mentioned their relationship in public. However, the billionaire assured on Twitter that he “fully supports” transgender people – and added on December 17, 2020: “But all these pronouns they use are an aesthetic nightmare.”

The businessman made the statement after a debate over a meme he shared on his social networks. The post mocked people who used to post their pronouns in their Twitter or Instagram posts. He was then charged with transphobia.

A troubled family history

Vivian Wilson did not explain the precise reasons for her estrangement from the founder of SpaceX. She is expected to speak in court at a hearing scheduled for Friday, June 24. The businessman had hosted six children with Canadian novelist Justine Wilson, whom he met while studying at Queen’s University and married in 2000.

Their eldest son, Nevada Alexander, born in 2002, had died at the age of 10 weeks, from respiratory arrest. The couple then gave birth to twins, Griffin and Xavier, in 2004, and two years later triplets, Kai, Saxon and Damian. Justine Wilson and Elon Musk divorced in 2008.
