Protect against dementia and lower cholesterol: The benefits of grapes

A series of studies, published in Food magazine, found that grape intake can have a positive effect on health, especially for those who eat high-fat meals.

Grapes are known to be rich in chemicals, which promote the growth of good intestinal bacteria and lower cholesterol.

Grapes also contain antioxidants, which can reduce the risk of many diseases and cancers.

Researchers have found that antioxidants found in grapes protect the brain from dementia by improving nerve cell function.

Another study found that eating grapes can also reduce the risk of fatty liver disease, The Sun reported.

Fatty liver disease is a common condition caused by excessive fat storage in the liver, a growing problem around the world, due to unhealthy eating habits.

Although rarely fatal, if untreated it can lead to liver failure or liver cancer.

The third study found that grapes can speed calorie burning by helping increase metabolism.

Researchers from the University of Western New England conducted all the studies on mice, some of which were fed high-fat systems normally consumed in Western countries, while only half of the mice were given grapes.

Researchers then compared the brain and liver health and metabolism of rats given grape supplements with those fed high-fat foods.

In a statement, Dr. John Bezoto, co-author of the study, said grapes added a whole new dimension to the old saying, “You are what you eat.”

“If you change the level of antioxidant gene expression, as we noticed with grapes added to the diet, the result is a stimulating response that can make a real difference,” Pizzoto explained.
