Tunisian analyst: The train of accountability has started and will not stop until all of brotherhood members are held accountable for crimes against the country
Tunisia continues to cleanse its country of the Brotherhood represented in Ennahdha, with its success in building state institutions as the new Tunisian parliament convenes, free of the Ennahdha Movement, where the political street awaits the implementation of a presidential decree dissolving the municipal councils formed under Ennahdha’s control in state institutions and elections.
Severe Blows to the Brotherhood
A report by the Roaya network revealed that the dissolution of these councils is the final step in the implementation of the road map, which was started by Tunisian President Kais Saied on July 25, 2021. That map has so far included the suspension and dissolution of the parliament controlled by Ennahdha, the change of government, the drafting of a new constitution, a new election law on the basis of which the recent parliamentary elections were held, in addition to judicial and economic reforms, and trials against the movement which was involved in charges against the Tunisian people.
The government’s measures to dissolve the municipalities will begin within two weeks of the official decision that was announced by Saied last Thursday. The decision also has strategic implications related to the country’s structural reform plan and the approval of principles consistent with the foundations of the “new republic” that Kais Saied announced earlier.
Ennahdha to the End
Dr. Oussama Aouidet, a leader in the Tunisian People’s Movement, and a political analyst, says that the dissolution of the municipal councils is a severe blow to Ennahdha and its gangs, pointing out that the train of accountability has started and will not stop except with holding accountable every person who committed crimes against Tunisia, confirming that everyone in Tunisia knows that the municipal councils have witnessed an unprecedented outbreak of corruption, specifically in the last five years, and that dissolving them was a real first step towards eradicating corruption and drying up funding sources for the Brotherhood.
He explained that we hope that the dissolution of the municipal councils will turn the last page for governing the arms of the Muslim Brotherhood organization inside the country and uproot the organization from the last executive strongholds that it still controls, especially that there are corruption suspicions surrounding prominent leaders in these councils, including the involvement of some of them in receiving foreign funds and working for foreign loyalties, which will be decided judicially through the anti-corruption court in the coming days.
