Morocco’s King Mohammed VI appealed for general mobilization to control the coronavirus
Morocco’s King Mohammed VI appealed on Friday in a video message broadcast in parliament for a general mobilization to control the coronavirus crisis and its terrible economic impact on the country.
The king declared that to confront this unprecedented crisis, to stand up to the challenges arising from it, requires a national general mobilization.
The king, 57-year-old reported that his traditional speech for the opening of parliament was being made in a distance because of the exceptional circumstances in the North African country.
In fact, Morocco related on Friday a daily record of 3,445 new cases of Covid-19, which increases the total number of confirmed contaminations to 146,398, including 2,530 deaths.
Moreover, the central bank estimated at the end of last month 6.3 percent decline in 2020 due to a slower than anticipated economic upturn and the closure of Morocco’s borders that has prevent it from the vital tourism revenues.
It should be noted that a medical state of emergency in force in Morocco since mid-March has been prolonged until November 10.
