Linked to “Gang Leader”… Assassination of Ecuador Beauty Queen in Broad Daylight
Unknown gunmen ended the life of the Ecuadorian Beauty Queen with gunfire in broad daylight inside a restaurant, amid a relationship with a gang leader they tried to conceal.
Surveillance footage showed an unidentified individual sneaking into a restaurant and opening fire on Lander Baraja Guiboro (23 years old) while she was talking to another man.
The masked assailant rapidly shot at Baraja and the man with her, before firing another round at the woman as she lay on the ground. The other assailant remained on standby at the restaurant door, then both assailants fled the scene, with police currently investigating and working to determine the motive and identity of the responsible attackers.
Baraja was a former participant in Miss Ecuador, representing the Los Rios province in 2022, according to the American New York Post.
The young woman, followed by over a million people on her social media accounts, as well as her own line of sportswear, made headlines last December when her name was mentioned in a conversation between the slain drug trafficker Leandro Norero and his accomplice Hillevi Angulo.
During Angulo’s trial, prosecutors revealed that Norero had pleaded with her in a 2022 letter to help keep his relationship with the beauty queen secret, after Angulo said the police were questioning her about the relationship.
Norero wrote, “If my wife finds out anything about her, I’m finished. My friend, her name cannot appear anywhere. Otherwise, my world will collapse.”
Norero was killed in prison only 6 months after his incarceration, while Baraja’s financial resources were under investigation by the prosecutor’s office and she was never prosecuted for a crime, and has made no public comments on the case or her relationship with Norero and his organization.
