Heavy rains and floods caused a bridge to collapse in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil.
Brazilian civil defense forces announced on Wednesday the death of 8 people and the disappearance of 21 others due to the floods.
Authorities reported the displacement of more than 1400 people following the storms, which led to rising river levels and floods.
In a report on hydrological conditions released on Tuesday, the Brazilian state government predicted a risk of floods “almost throughout the entire state” due to the possibility of heavy rainfall.
