Kitchen or refrigerator: the best place to store eggs

The question of the ideal place to store eggs to keep them fresh longer remains a topic of debate.

It’s common to store eggs in a basket in the kitchen, while others keep them in the refrigerator. However, the veterinarian known online as “Poloiso” suggests that it isn’t necessary to refrigerate eggs.

In a video posted on his page, Poloiso said: “Being a veterinarian means you are responsible for animals from the farm to the dinner plate. Part of my studies focused on food standards and hygiene.”

Dr. Poloiso recommends storing eggs in the refrigerator due to the stable temperature, which extends their shelf life.

He explained: “You don’t need to store eggs in the refrigerator, but you can leave them there to last longer. Be aware that if you leave eggs in the fridge, they are likely to last much longer than if you leave them outside.”

Dr. Poloiso also shed light on why some large stores don’t refrigerate eggs, explaining that temperature shifts can cause condensation, which increases the risk of salmonella poisoning when consuming eggs.
