A 5.57-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Seram Island in Indonesia


The German Research Center for Geosciences reported that a 5.57-magnitude earthquake struck Seram Island in Indonesia on Sunday (Monday local time).

The center stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to Reuters.

On February 26, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Modisi, Indonesia, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The agency reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located 56 kilometers east of Modisi, at a latitude of 0.375 degrees north and a longitude of 124.941 degrees east, with a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.
