A New Google Service Lets AI Make Calls on Your Behalf

Google has introduced a new feature that allows artificial intelligence to make calls to businesses and individuals, performing certain tasks on your behalf.

This service can, for example, inquire about service fees, book appointments, or request information about other services.

Google has launched this experimental AI-powered feature and has just begun rolling it out as a test.

Now, AI can take over one of the most tedious tasks of modern life: making phone calls—something that many consider a nightmare.

Reducing the Number of Calls

Google has named this new AI-powered feature “Ask for me”, which can call local businesses to request information about pricing and availability, for example.

While it won’t be able to handle all your phone calls, it could significantly reduce the number of calls you need to make.

According to Google, this feature is currently being tested in various stores, including car dealerships.

Businesses will be informed that they are speaking with AI and will have the option to opt out of receiving AI-generated calls if they wish.

A few years ago, Google launched Duplex, a technology that had already helped millions of businesses keep their customers updated with essential information.

This innovation is also useful for calling a doctor to secure a last-minute appointment, paying bills, scheduling a car repair, or handling any other task that requires a voice conversation with a human.

It’s important to note that this new feature is still in its experimental phase, meaning there may be occasional issues, and capacity limitations could result in call queues before AI can handle the request.
