A trending hashtag: ‘Against the Muslim Brotherhood and Moataz Matar… What’s the story?’
Across the (X) website, numerous activists launched an unprecedented attack on the Muslim Brotherhood and its supportive media personality, Moataz Matar. This stems from his attempts to denigrate Saudi Arabia by disseminating videos and statements through their accounts.
These comments relate to the kingdom’s stance on the Israeli aggression against Gaza, the Riyadh season, and the most recent one, concerning the alleged distortion of the Hebrew version of the Holy Quran issued by the King Fahd Complex in Saudi Arabia.
In the past few hours, the Muslim Brotherhood has been trending under the hashtag #TheBrotherhoodBetrayHomelands. This trend discusses the meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh. This is used to affirm that Ankara has abandoned the Brotherhood, opting for the principle of national interest in inter-state relationships. The hashtag serves to remind of the group’s agenda aimed at sabotaging homelands, citing evidence that refutes their claims regarding the security authorities targeting every religious figure who supports Palestinians. They affirm, via the hashtag, that all imams across various mosques, including the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Medina, are praying for Palestinians in Gaza.
Moreover, the activists refuted many old videos, claiming they were from the Riyadh season, affirming that the Saudi society is religiously committed and cannot support actions contrary to public norms and customs. Additionally, activists responded via the hashtag #MoatazMatar, accusing the Brotherhood-supporting journalist of lying, particularly regarding preventing prayers or any events supportive of the Palestinian cause. They consider these statements as mere attempts to incite and offend, asserting that the Saudi people are now aware of the goals of the Brotherhood and its affiliated media personalities.
The hashtag carried numerous mocking comments aimed at Moataz Matar after Britain announced the cancellation of his visa, accusing him of supporting Hamas in the Gaza Strip. It’s believed that the nation that once hosted them has abandoned them, leaving them in a predicament, a sign that their end might be near.
