After the arrest of Hakem al-Mutairi… The Muslim Brotherhood doubts the Kuwaiti judiciary, and this is what they requested

Yesterday, security forces in Turkey arrested the prominent Kuwaiti Muslim Brotherhood leader Hakem al-Mutairi, who was fugitive from a life sentence in his country, following his involvement and incitement to overturn the governance system in Kuwait in 2011 during what is known as the ‘Arab Spring’ events, as announced by his official account on the (X) platform.

Turkish authorities are expected to hand over the leader of the Nation’s Party (Al-Mutairi) to Kuwait through Interpol to execute the judicial sentences against him.

Immediately after the arrest of Al-Mutairi, accounts affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood cast doubt on the Kuwaiti judiciary and the evidence presented in the trial. They called for the release of Al-Mutairi and not to extradite him to Kuwait in the “Gaddafi Leaks” case.

The Muslim Brotherhood requested the new Emir of Kuwait to issue a pardon for Hakem al-Mutairi, affirming that he is a “militant who has always defended the nation’s causes and has been subjected to injustice in his country.”

Accounts affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood urged Turkish authorities to pressure for the release of Al-Mutairi, claiming that “such stances destroy Turkey’s image in the Islamic world.”

In 2021, the Kuwaiti Criminal Court issued a verdict sentencing Al-Mutairi to life imprisonment on charges of “attempting to overthrow the governance system and espionage for the benefit of Libya against Kuwait.”

It is worth noting that in 2020, secret recordings from the tent of Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi were leaked, including a clip concerning Hakem al-Mutairi, where he requested financial support with the aim of spreading concern in his country, according to BBC.

These leaks also included some clips revealing Al-Mutairi’s conspiracy to destabilize the situation in Gulf countries.

It is worth mentioning that thousands of members and leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood organization in Turkey are increasingly concerned about the noticeable change in the Turkish authorities’ approach towards them. They are now threatened with extradition to their countries based on terrorism-related charges and incitement against existing regimes.
