Al-Sisi criticizes the Brotherhood and their demands for reconciliation, blaming them for terrorism in the country; Details

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed his surprise at the Muslim Brotherhood’s demand for reconciliation with the state, following the violations and crimes committed in recent years.

Speaking at the opening session of the Economic Conference “Egypt 2022”, el-Sisi said: “They (referring to the Brotherhood) failed and refused to admit failure, prepared the state and demanded reconciliation,” according to Youm7.

The Egyptian president blamed the country’s mainstream of political Islam for terrorism, recalling the violence that the country witnessed in 2013.

Political Islamist groups continue to “question and distort,” al-Sisi said. “They did not have a real project or roadmap for rebuilding the state.”

The events of 2011 and 2013 would have destroyed what was left of the state and exacerbated the crisis, he said, pointing out that 2011 provided an opportunity for political Islam to reach power, but they failed in managing the state.

El-Sisi said the challenges will not end for any country in the world, adding that he is not defending himself but defending the course, the idea and the philosophy of governance.

“The most dangerous thing is to measure the public’s satisfaction with what citizens get directly and the ruler’s keenness to do so,” el-Sisi said.

The Egyptian president stressed the importance of the maritime border demarcation agreement between Egypt and Cyprus, Greece in the Mediterranean and Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea, noting that the Dhahr natural gas field “could not have been discovered had the borders not been demarcated”.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said the agreement “saved $120 billion a year for the operation of electricity stations”.

He added in a speech during the speech of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli before the Economic Conference… Egypt 2022 in the administrative capital: “Without the maritime borders, prospecting companies would not have been able to work in these areas.”

The Egyptian president continued, “God’s grace was great for us by discovering the Zohr field, and without it, Egypt would have been dark, because we do not have the savings of 2 billion dollars per month at the old prices of gas to operate the power stations. As for the current prices, the cost may reach 10 billion dollars per month. To purchase the gas required to operate the existing power stations in Egypt, so that the electricity will not be cut off.
