Al-Sissi affirmed the importance of collective action
Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sissi affirmed the importance of cooperative action among Arab counties in order to reestablish stability in the region, particularly in areas that are living instability and crises because of the terrorist groups.
He stated during the inauguration of the Arab Intelligence Forum through video conference in Cairo that these groups are backed by other countries and governments. He also appealed all Arab countries and the delegations participating in the forum to stand together, reject division and overcome any differences to confront challenges. He also stressed the importance of the Arab Intelligence Forum as a robust and supportive tool for cooperation among countries.
Moreover, according to presidential spokesperson, Bassam Rady, al-Sissi declared that that countering terrorism depends on exchanging experiences and information along with the continuous development of different mechanisms to confront it.
Abbas Kamel, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS), head the Forum participants, and he affirmed the importance of the event in promoting joint action to achieve Arab national security.
Furthermore, the Forum goals were to exchange views to address the accelerating challenges facing the Arab region, particularly in fighting terrorism, extremist ideology and organized crime. It is wanted that this exchange would help achieve regional security and stability.
It should indicate that Egypt hosted in February 2020 the first gathering for the heads of Arab intelligence agencies that helped to facilitate the way for establishing the Arab Intelligence Forum.
