Among them, Khark: U.S. reveals strike results while Iran acknowledges losses
The U.S. Central Command announced that American forces carried out a large-scale strike on the Iranian island of Khark, targeting dozens of military sites, as part of the ongoing escalation between the United States and Iran.
The Central Command stated in a release published on the “X” platform that U.S. forces struck more than 90 Iranian military targets on the island during a precision strike carried out overnight from Friday to Saturday, emphasizing that the operations targeted military installations while preserving the island’s oil infrastructure.
The statement added that the strike destroyed naval mine storage facilities, missile depots, and several other military sites.
The operation follows threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to target the island’s oil infrastructure, a major center for Iranian oil exports, if attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz continued.
Iran acknowledges losses
Iranian media, for their part, acknowledged damage to some military facilities and airport infrastructure on the island following the airstrikes.
Tasnim news agency quoted an Iranian source stating that some military facilities on Khark Island were damaged, while local officials confirmed that oil export operations from the island are continuing normally.
Ehsan Jahaniyan, deputy for political and security affairs to the governor of Bushehr, said the attack had not affected the operations of oil companies on the island, noting that export and import activities at the oil port are proceeding as usual and that daily life for residents continues.
The Iranian official also confirmed that the strike caused no human casualties among military personnel, oil company workers, or the island’s residents.
In a related context, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Defense, Abu al-Fazl Shakarji, stated that the Iranian armed forces will increase the use of advanced weaponry in the next phase, particularly in the areas of ballistic missiles and systems with higher destructive capacity and greater accuracy, emphasizing that military operations will continue according to a planned strategy to increase pressure on adversaries.
Extensive damage to civilian infrastructure
Alongside military strikes, the Iranian government reported that the recent attacks caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure within the country.
Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that 42,914 civilian facilities were damaged during the recent attacks in Iran.
She added that the number of women killed reached 223, while the number of injured totaled 2,729.
Mohajerani also indicated that the attacks damaged 43 emergency centers and 32 ambulances, in addition to the death of 16 healthcare workers while performing their duties.
In the education sector, she noted that 120 schools suffered severe damage, while 206 teachers and students were killed.
She further mentioned that the Azadi Tower, one of Tehran’s prominent landmarks, was damaged during the attacks.
